2025-12-11 Update:
What I thought was impossible is now a reality.
Russia and the United States of America have joined forces against Europe, and a world war seems inevitable to me, if it has not already begun.
Europe and its citizens must rearm and prepare for a war on a scale similar to that of the last world war.
I am not a military expert, but for ordinary citizens, it is necessary to use common sense:
- Follow the ‘72-hour preparedness’ concept (stock up on enough food, water and everything else you need to be self-sufficient for 72 hours).
- Spend time learning skills that could be useful in the event of war (you can take the example of Ukraine, assembling drones or anything else that seems useful in this context).
- In a more IT-related area, the United States uses its control over social media and everything at its disposal to wage war on us. Make a list of everything you use that is controlled by the United States and use a European alternative for each of these items instead. At the very least, have at least one European communication tool that you, your friends and your family use.
- And if, like me, you live in a city that once was a frontline during world war II, learning about where are the entrances of the old bombs shelter and underground fortification is, at best, a nice trivia, at worst, a usefull information
At least, that's what I do personally. And you should do the same, if not more.
And please, avoid social media, it is one of the plagues of our times and militaries weaponize it to manipulate opinions.

Given the radical change in American geopolitics (threats of invading parts of the EU) the United States of America is now an hostile country. Any data or services managed by an American company, even if the data is hosted in Europe, could be stolen, manipulated, used against you for blackmail, or any other function against your interests.
It's always been a bad idea to be so dependent on American companies. But today, it has become an existancial menace.
Alternatives to American services, goods and companies:
- Use European payment system. In 2026, you can use bank transfert, "Carte bleu" if you are french, or Wero. Wero is the easiest and quickest way. If you are a business, this post will help you to understand how to setup Wero as a payment system for your customers: https://old.reddit.com/r/BuyFromEU/comments/1qlmleo/a_guide_on_accepting_wero_as_an_online_shop_de_fr/. In the future, another European payment system may appear, the "Digital Euro", this project should be voted at the european level this year.

- My personnal recommandations for multiple IT things (Based on things I use):
- cloud services providers: Any company qualified SecNumCloud, with a personal preference for Scaleway: They use their own software, instead of using software from foreign countries (like vmware/...)
- messenger (whatsapp/telegram/signal/... alternative): the Matrix protocol [Used by the french government, german government, british government, OTAN/NATO, United Nations International Computing Centre, and many more ]. Currently the easiest client to use is Element, owned by a british company. Free for personal use.
- mobile phone (no android/ios): Nothing existing truly satisfy me. Librem5 from Purism is nice, but american. My current setup is 1 european dump phone that can just handle phone call and SMS, + 1 fairphone 5 smartphone with PostmarketOS
- You are a company or an individual, and there is too much choices for you ? You want to see only one possibility for each technological choices ? My biaised opinion: Autoritative choices by neowutran

I am interested in research work on offensive cybersecurity or work related to QubesOS or Xen.
Also, due to the radical changes in geopolitics since early 2025, if my skills could be useful at the European or French level in the weapons/military sector, I could be interested too.
