My recommandation for messenger (whatsapp/telegram/signal/... alternative) is the Matrix protocol [Used by the french government, german government, british government, OTAN/NATO, United Nations International Computing Centre, and many more ]. Currently the easiest client to use is Element, owned by a british company. Free for personal use.
It's always been a bad idea to be so dependent on American companies. But today, it has become an existancial menace.

I could be interested in research work on offensive cybersecurity or work related to QubesOS or Xen.
